Adult Art Sketchbooking
Wednesdays 7:30-9pm , Ongoing, $20 per class
This is a very informal class in which we experiment with many different media and techniques.  In this class we draw, paint, collage, stamp, and beyond.  Please email the studio with more questions or to sign up for emails.

Adult Art Classes Fall 2013


Many adults have be inquiring about art classes, so I've decided to offer three basic classes.  All of them will be fun and untraditionally taught, but at the finish of each one you will have a greater grasp on the subject and techniques.  All classes will be taught in my dining room/art studio except for the outdoor art sketchbooking course.  All materials are included in the price, but you are more than welcome to bring your own supplies.  Please email me to sign up for a class or with any questions!! -Patricia  (If you can only attend in the evenings and are interested in a class, email me and if there is enough interest I will set up a night class.)

Drawing Basics 
(6 Classes- $250) Tuesdays 10AM-12NOON Sept 17, 24, Oct 1, 8,15, & 22 
In this class we will work on drawing skills through exercises and projects that will help to learn about value, perception, and shape.  We will learn how to see in order to draw and practice our hand/eye coordination.  Different media such as charcoal, pencil, and pens will be used to learn more about how each one is useful in its own way.  By the end of the six weeks you will be much more adept in drawing exactly what you see.  This class is for the beginner and intermediate artist.  Materials are included in price, but each artist is welcome to bring their own supplies. (Limited to 6 students)

Outdoor Art Sketchbooking 
(6 Classes- $250) Thursdays 10AM-12NOON Sept 19, 26, Oct 3, 10,17, & 24
Have you ever wanted to create art outdoors?  Here's your chance.  In this workshop, we will travel to locations around and near Sea Cliff to draw and paint landscapes and nature subjects.  The first class will be held in the classroom learning about and using the different media that is better or worse for on the go.  The remaining classes will be at places such as Sea Cliff Beach, the Roslyn Pond, and other beautiful and inspiring places.  This is a very informal class and we will be working in sketchbooks. This class is appropriate for anyone interested in honing their drawing/painting skills no matter what level.

Watercolor Painting 
(4 classes $170) Tuesdays 10AM-12NOON Oct 29, Nov 3, 10 & 17 
Learning the basics with watercolors such as how to choose a palette, and the different techniques that can be used to paint with watercolors is what this class is all about.  We will work on four projects - a still life, a landscape, a portrait, and an abstract.  This class is for anyone interested in learning how to watercolor paint.  I teach to level, so if you are more experienced, you will learn more advanced techniques.

Red Bow Summer Workshops Extended- 2 Bonus Weeks in August

Due to popular demand, and busy July schedules, I am offering mini workshops for two additional weeks at the end of August.  These will be geared towards the younger artist- 5-8 (although anyone is able to participate- it will be fun;).   Children are more than welcome to sign up for both the weeks, and although they are similar, they won't feel like it's repetitive.

Summer Morning Camp
from 9:30AM to 12 Noon
COST: $175 Per week includes all materials.

Week 6 (August 21, 22, & 23- Wed, Thurs, Fri)
During week six we will spend a day painting a canvas, and then next day we will decoupage a lamp.  The third morning will be finishing up our two lovely projects.  This week will be fast paced and hands on geared for the younger artist (age 4-8, although older children are welcome), spending time working with acrylic paints and paper and scissors.  We cater to all kinds of artists.


Week 7 (August 27, 28, 29- Tues, Wed, Thurs)
The second week in August will be spent painting with watercolors and creating a shrine using watercolor paints and paper.  This week is also focused on the younger artist, who moves at a faster pace.  As usual, all ages are welcome, and are allowed to work at their own speed.  We aim to please at Red Bow.

In week four we will work with watercolor paints and learn the many different wonderful things they can do.  In this workshop we will focus on process and technique.  The subject matter will be chosen by the student.  The result will be a simple book with watercolor renderings.

Summer Morning Camp 2013

Hello everyone!  I have decided to do 5 weeks of mini-camp this summer at my garage studio.

Summer Morning Camp
from 9:30AM to 12 Noon Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
COST: $175 Per week includes all materials.
During the summer morning camp we will focus on a single area of art and create artwork portraying what we have learned.  These classes are for children ages 6-10 (possibly 11&12) who are serious about their artwork and would like to spend their mornings creating in an intimate studio setting with friends.  We will be learning techniques and skills in each area that they will be able to use beyond the class.  We will also have a lot of fun.  There is a maximum of six students per week.  Sign ups are per week and you may sign your child up for as many or few weeks as you like.  If you would like to sign up your child, please email me and I will send you a sign up form (theredbowstudio at gmail).  There is a $50 deposit per student to reserve a space per class.  If you have any questions, please call or email me!


Week 1 Paint A Canvas July 1, 2, &3 (Mon instead of Thurs)
The second week of camp will be spent with acrylics painting a canvas. On the first day we will sketch out our ideas and draw them onto our canvas.  The second and third days will be spent working with the acrylic paints, focusing on color and form.  If there is time, we will work on more than one painting.


Week 2 Cartooning July 9,10, & 11
In this workshop we will learn about the body, how to create our own characters, and how to draw many different subjects.  Included will be different types of animals, facial features, backgrounds, etc.  We will work with professional pens and other media of the artists' choosing.  The result will be a comic strip!




Week 3 Still Life  July 16, 17 & 18
Our third week will focus on still life subjects.  We will work with many different objects and practice drawing what we see.  This workshop will focus on line, form, and value and how to translate it into our drawings and paintings.  The students will work with different mediums and canvases and have some wonderful work to hang at the end of this workshop.


Week 4 Watercolor Book Workshop July 23, 24, & 25

In week five, we will spend our time cutting with scissors and creating collages with Mod Podge.  We will decorate a lamp and we will create a shrine to hang on the wall- both lovely items to spruce up any room in your house!
