Summer Mini Camp 2019

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30AM to Noon
COST: $175 Per week includes all materials
These art classes are for children K-5thgrade who are serious about their artwork and would like to spend their mornings creating in an intimate studio setting with friends.  We will be learning techniques and skills in each area that they will be able to use beyond the class, all while having lots of fun.  Sign ups are per week and your child may attend as many or few weeks as you like (as long as they are not full).  If you are interested, please email me and I will send you a sign up form (theredbowstudio at gmail.com).  There is a $50 deposit per student to reserve a space per class.  If you have any questions, please call or email me!  There must be at least 4 children enrolled for a class to run.
WEEK 1 Bookmaking July 9, 10, 11
I love beginning camp creating an artist’s book, because sky’s the limit.  The students are invited to take their book in any directiong, using whatever media they would like to experiement with that day.  The story might be told with layers of charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and so much more.  The idea is to let the child envision an idea and then learn how to express it with art in a handmade book.
Week 2 Paint A Canvas July 16, 17, 18
In week two we will work with acrylics, pencil, charcoal, and more to paint a canvas. This is a messy week, but oh so fun learning all about acrylic paints and how to create texture and form in our artwork.  The young artist learn will learn how to take and idea, sketch it out, and then paint it onto a canvas.  We work in different sizes and with lots of acrylic paint. Each student usually completes about 3 completed pieces over the course.
Week 3 Collaging July 23, 24, 25
In week three we will spend our time cutting with scissors and creating collages with Mod Podge.  We will decorate a cigar box and we will create a shrine to hang on the wall- both lovely items to spruce up any room in your house
Week 4 All about Watercolor July 30, 31, AUG 1
In the last week of camp we will learn all about watercolors and mixing them with other media.  We will learn how to create a color palette, paint color washes, printmaking, using resists, and much more.  The children will work on creating abstract art, still lifes and landscapes.
