During the summer morning camp we will focus on a single area of art and create artwork portraying what we have learned.  These classes are for children ages 6-10 (possibly 5) who are serious about their artwork and would like to spend their mornings creating in an intimate studio setting with friends.  We will be learning techniques and skills in each area that they will be able to use beyond the class, all while having lots of fun.  Sign ups are per week and your child may attend as many or few weeks as you like (as long as they are not full).  If you are interested, please email me and I will send you a sign up form (theredbowstudio at gmail.com).  There is a $50 deposit per student to reserve a space per class.  If you have any questions, please call or email me!  There must be at least 4 children enrolled for a class to run.

Week 1 Bookmaking June 25, 26, &27 (Please note it is Mon Tues & Wed for this week)

In this workshop, the young artists will work to create a small book inspired by the stories in their everyday lives.  We will collage, paint, draw and use any other media they see fit to illustrate their stories.  From past experience, each book will be completely different; some filled with text, others a potpourri of drawings and paintings.  We will try to fit in as much art making as possible in creating our books.  This week is filled with watercolor, collage, stamping, drawing with ink, etc.  I love this workshop because there are so many mediums that we can work with.  I need 4 children to run the class, max 8 children.

Week 2 Paint a Canvas  July 10, 11 & 12
In week two we will work with acrylics to paint a canvas (or many). On the first day the young artists develop and sketch out their ideas and draw them onto their canvas.  We then start to develop the backgrounds of our paintings and color block the images.  The second and third days are spent working with the paints, focusing on color, form, and detail.  The participants learn what makes a successful painting and how to use lines to create movement and focus of the the subject matter. On average, the artists take home about 3 completed works.  I need 4 children to run the class, max 8 children.  Please email me with any questions or to sign up.  To reserve your spot, I ask for a deposit of $50.k to hang at the end of this workshop.  I need 4 children to run the class, max 8 children.

Week 3 Printmaking- July 17, 18 & 19
In this workshop we will focus on stamping and using rollers to apply different types of paint.  We will also print from styrofoam and use other items to experiment with stamping.  I need 4 children to run the class, max 8 children.  Please email me with any questions or to sign up.  To reserve your spot, I ask for a deposit of $50.

Week 4 Collaging July 31, August 1 & 2
In week four we will spend our time cutting with scissors and creating collages with Mod Podge.  We will decorate a cigar box and we will create a shrine to hang on the wall- both lovely items to spruce up any room in your house!  I need 4 children to run the class, max 8 children.  Please email me with any questions or to sign up.  To reserve your spot, I ask for a deposit of $50.
